The ramifications of proposed BILL A3952.

Dear students and fellow operators:

As you may have heard, NJ Assemblyman John J. Burzichelli has introduced Bill No. 3952. Essentially, this bill would eliminate the need of a low pressure boiler license.

Hopefully you can understand what this will mean for you, the stationary engineer. No longer will you be recognized for your skill and training as an operator. Now your job could be occupied by just anyone. I mean anyone. Think about how this might impact your resume, your job security, your livelihood, and the safety of every boiler room in the state. Wages will most certainly fall as fast as accidents will rise.

I have been in this industry for 40 years and have seen and heard about countless accidents and safety disasters, almost all of them because of operator error. This is the whole idea of a license. A license showing you have been trained and have the necessary experience with this equipment.

I'm hoping you can understand these ramifications. I'm hoping you will stand up for the protection of your job, stand up for the skills you have acquired over your years of employment, and stand up to protect the safety and well being of others who may be harmed by the unsafe operation of boilers!

All you have to do is contact your assemblyman and tell them to vote NO on Bill A3952.
