Responsibilities
The Operating Engineer, is responsible to lead shift operations and maintenance work in the boiler plant of a large chemical facility. The Training Center Group's (TCG) operations team support’s the client mission for 100% facility uptime. The position requires strong critical environment technical skills and routine conduct of hands-on operations and maintenance work on a variety of critical facility systems and equipment in an operating critical environment. Work requires strong formal conduct of operations skills, technical expertise, personal accountability, and flawless execution of work activities commensurate with a high risk critical environment and associated expectations for exceptional customer satisfaction and confidence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate and maintain the boiler plant within the facility.
  • Perform routine rounds, tests, procedures, record data on each shift.
  • Fill out logbooks as required by TCG and boiler code.
  • Complete proper turnover of shift, communicating plant status clearly and thoroughly.
  • Troubleshoot problems that may arise during shift.
  • Complete assigned company safety training.
  • Perform procedures for plant operation.
  • Follow directives of TCG and the client.
  • Performs additional job duties as requested.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED equivalent. Trade schooling preffered (boiler training).

3+ years experience working with boiler plants (or similar type critical environment) operations, maintenance, and engineering supporting critical facilities operations.

Working technical knowledge and understanding of boiler/steam/control systems.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

  • NJ Blue Seal Stationary Engineer's License (or higher)
  • Valid Driver’s License

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, comprehend, and execute administrative procedures, equipment manuals, drawings, read P&ID prints, procedures, and maintenance work instructions.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to perform equipment troubleshooting and diagnoses of general system operating issues and deficiencies.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Proficient in basic computer applications, email, etc.
